The word "mandala" is a sanskrit word, loosely translated to mean "circle". A mandala
is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness. In various
spiritual traditions, mandalas may be employed for focusing attention, as a
spiritual teaching tool, and as an aid to meditation. In
common use, the mandala has become a generic term for any plan, chart or
geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically
or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe. I love mandalas. I think they are beautiful...and so fun to draw! I find it relaxing to doodle/sketch and create a mandala. Here is a video showing one how to start a mandala...and you can find many others. Kids love it, too. :)
