Deer Springs Ranch, Day2, Afternoon

Our next hike of the day was a couple of miles down the road from Whitehouse Wash, to a place called the Toadstools.  It's about a 3mile round trip exploration of some awesome rock formations and gorgeous colors of sand and stone.

Below:  this area, its true, reminds me vanilla chocolate chip ice cream, heavy on the chips

Below:  I loved these colored drip marks...

Yes, Wildman hiked in his Vibrams...they are now slick rock-red on the inside

Ah...isn't he sweet?

The white sand was SO soft! It felt like putting your feet into a bucket of flour.

All the kidlets....just chilling...

The boys had fun tossing chunks of white sand onto the red dirt...they left some cool spray patterns...

Below: that's my Wildgirl...

Because ODD is a foot doctor in need of some fun decor for his new office, I thought it would be fun to take some family feet pictures.  They were fun to play with...;)

Wildkid had fun doing the natural chalk-drawing thing....

Wildkid took this pic of me, below...

Below:  the colors are so incredible!

The last 100 yards of this hike, the wind became atrocious, blowing sand and tumbleweeds everywhere.  We could hardly see.  We had been hoping to visit the Coral Pink Sand Dunes next, but the wind blowing the storm in was too much to handle. We headed back to the coziness of the cabin, just in time to watch the first snowflakes begin to fall.  That evening P & N, the ranch managers brought us some dinner and some visitors...the D's!  It was great to visit with them, and have a cabin full of awesome people.  Good times.

What a fabulous trip. The pictures are awesome as always! (They reminded me just how much I miss the red rocks and sand and you all in the middle of it!) SO glad you got to get away from the CV spring!
