Day 4 Deer Springs Ranch

Day 4 actually dawned bright and clear. And cold. 10 degrees. We had Stargirl open the last of her gifts (that we brought with us). I removed the curlers from her hair and got this. So cute.

We decided that rather than try again for a Wave permit, we'd visit one of our favorite places, the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. A little bit of heaven on Earth. Best sand ever.

Below: WM and the kids on top of the largest dune.

Below: my little "Children of Dune", where are their stillsuits? Where are the worms?!

Below: yes, it was about 38 degrees and windy. The kids stripped off their winter gloves, hats, coats, shoes and socks, while the old folks sat huddled in in our multiple layers and watched the frolicking.
Below: WM, atop another large dune...
Remember my cool optical illusion of the footprints in the sand? Well, we were at the same place, so I took another one. Can you see it both ways? In and out?

On our way back to the ranch, we drove past this old movie set up Johnson Canyon Road. WK said it was "creepy".

Then, when we arrived at the cabin, I took some birthday pictures of my 9 year old!

And WK, again being snuggled by the red mare.
That evening, N and P invited us over for dinner. We had so much fun playing games and getting to know their family. They are so generous and truly some of the nicest people ever. Thank you so much, N & P! We're excited for next time. Stay tuned for the final Day 5...

Happy Birthday Stargirl! What a wonderful way to get to spend your birthday. LOVE the pictures! She is absolutely beautiful! I just can't get over how grown up she looks! And the scarf is adorable too!

Some experiences are simply better than school.
